Pirates and Plagues: A Week Until A Plague Tale Legacy Launch Amid Ongoing PC Game Leaks

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy serves as a prequel to the previous two acclaimed horror adventures filled with rats, and its official release is still a week away. However, the PC version has somehow leaked ahead of schedule. This isn’t the first instance of early access piracy for games this year.

Reports surfaced today that the game’s DRM was compromised, leading to copies being shared online. Players on the game’s subreddit have posted images of the loading screen, with some claiming to have started playing Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy early, while others are logging off to dodge spoilers. Additionally, images from the game are circulating on piracy forums.

It remains unclear how the PC version managed to escape before its release date, but it’s not the only major title to experience early leaks in 2026. Players got their hands on Forza Horizon 6 before its launch in May, and Xbox users accessed Lego Batman ahead of time as well. Other notable leaks include the opening of 007 First Light, which appeared online before its release, and a wave of unauthorized Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay clips currently making the rounds.

A Plague Tale Legacy does not offer any paid early access and will officially launch on August 27. The game is expected to last around 20 hours and, like its predecessors from Asobo Studio, will be heavily focused on narrative. However, unlike the earlier stealth titles, this installment will feature action gameplay with a parry system. It will also be available on day one through Game Pass Ultimate for both console and PC.
