Avengers: Endgame Rerelease Duration Unveiled, Tailored for Marvel Fans
Before fans flock to theaters this December to catch Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel is bringing back Avengers: Endgame for a special re-release. This encore presentation of the 2019 Infinity Saga finale will feature new footage that connects it to Doomsday. We now have the details on the runtime for Avengers: Endgame Encore.
New listings from AMC Theatres reveal that Endgame Encore will run for 185 minutes, which is three hours and five minutes. This makes it the longest film in the MCU, surpassing the original Endgame, which had a runtime of 181 minutes. So, if you’re doing the math, that means there’s just four extra minutes of footage. Whether that’s worth another lengthy trip to the theater in September is up to you. Alternatively, you could wait for the new scenes to pop up online.
The additional footage was filmed during the production of Doomsday and is designed to link Endgame to the upcoming film. This could raise some eyebrows among fans, as it suggests that not much has happened in the MCU since 2018.
Director Joe Russo previously mentioned that re-releasing Endgame was “critically important.” He noted, “You don’t always get the chance to re-release because it costs money, so the fact that we can enhance the story of Doomsday by bridging it to Endgame and these characters that we’ve worked with for years that we love so much, and continue their story: It’s a really unique opportunity.”
Details about the extra footage remain vague, but it’s likely tied to Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. The trailers for Doomsday have already hinted at his return, and the last time we saw him in the MCU was during his farewell in Endgame. If that’s the case, the new scenes will probably appear toward the film’s conclusion. We might even get a “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday” card during the credits.
Avengers: Endgame Encore hits theaters on September 25, while Avengers: Doomsday is set to premiere on December 18.
Not even the Power Stone could strengthen your bladder enough for this movie.
