GTA 6 Fan Believes They’ve Identified the Leaker’s Crypto Wallet, Predicting Rockstar Will Soon Take Action

It’s been three days since a leaker known as “Cyberleek” started releasing snippets of Grand Theft Auto 6, seemingly as a form of protest against Rockstar Games’ digital release practices. Despite the magnitude of these leaks for what could be the biggest game of the decade, the leaker remains at large, even dropping more footage just this morning. However, many believe it’s only a matter of time before Rockstar and Take-Two catch up with them, especially since tracking down the leaker’s main crypto wallet appears to be relatively straightforward.

This insight comes from a detailed analysis on a gaming forum by a user named Vice Cit, who meticulously traced Cyberleek’s crypto wallet and shared their findings. For those not keen on diving deep into the complexities of the leaker’s crypto activities, here’s a summary. Vice Cit notes that while the leaker claims to be advocating for gamers by pushing Rockstar to abandon digital pre-orders, they have been using the leaks to solicit money in cryptocurrency since the beginning. “The gamers’ rights messaging was just a way to gain public support from those frustrated by the decline of physical media,” Vice Cit explains. “The person behind this leak is making a significant amount of money, and after reading this, you might realize we could be in for a longer saga than we initially thought. This isn’t just a repeat of the 2022 leak; it’s been carefully planned to maximize their profits.”

Cyberleek has even launched their own cryptocurrency, dubbed $CYBERLEEK, which they promote with each new leak. According to Vice Cit, the leaker invested around $29,000 to create this coin. While they don’t profit directly from its sale, every transaction incurs a fee that goes straight to the creator, which is how they’re actually cashing in. Vice Cit estimates that the leaker made about $30,000 in fees on the first day alone, effectively recouping their initial investment, and has been raking in several thousand dollars daily since.

Additionally, the creator has set aside 270 million tokens in a private wallet, valued at approximately $391,000 at the time of Vice Cit’s analysis, which could also be sold for profit. Vice Cit suggests that a smart move would be to sell these tokens gradually to avoid disrupting the coin market, but there may be a larger strategy behind the purpose of these coins.

With this approach, Vice Cit posits that the leaker is likely motivated to keep the leaks flowing daily to maintain interest in the coin and encourage trading. However, this may not be sustainable for long. Vice Cit claims to have traced the wallet that created the coin back to a KuCoin account, and KuCoin’s policies allow law enforcement to obtain identity information with a subpoena. Given that Take-Two is already subpoenaing Discord and Microsoft for information related to this leak, if Vice Cit’s tracing is accurate, it seems likely that subpoenas for crypto companies will follow soon.

Take-Two is likely eager to resolve this situation quickly to prevent the leaks from overshadowing the big official reveal of Grand Theft Auto 6 next week. Whatever the outcome, it seems this leaker might soon find out if the money they made from crypto was worth the potential legal troubles ahead.
