Player Completes All 1,000 Levels of Splatoon Raiders’ ‘Bottomless Buffet’ but Receives No Reward
Splatoon Raiders is a blast! I had a great time with it, as I mentioned in my previous review, but a flood of other exciting titles has kept me from diving deep into its post-game content. One of the standout features in the post-game is the Bottomless Buffet, which is essentially an “endless” mode that ramps up the difficulty. Here, you must survive wave after wave of tough enemies, collecting a set number of Power Eggs from each floor before the timer runs out. The intensity ramps up quickly, so most players will likely only tackle the 100 floors needed to reach the game’s true ending.
In theory, the Bottomless Buffet should be limitless, suggesting an infinite number of floors to conquer if you’re up for the challenge. However, there’s a cap at 1,000 floors. Recently, someone managed to complete floor 1,000, reaching the bottom of this so-called “Bottomless” Buffet. It’s an impressive achievement, but unfortunately, they received no reward for it.
This accomplishment was captured in a nearly two-and-a-half-hour video by a player who documented their attempts to conquer the final challenge of the Bottomless Buffet: floors 998, 999, and 1000. For those who haven’t explored much of Splatoon Raiders’ endgame, these attempts might seem chaotic. The player utilized a popular build that allows them to group enemies together, deal significant damage, and then hover above them to avoid harm while sniping the tougher foes. Equipped with a Speed Tank, a Jump Bomb, a Torqscrew, and a Blast Boot, they leveraged the Jump Bomb to gain altitude, the Torqscrew to pull in enemies and propel themselves upward, and the Blast Bomb to freeze enemies in place. It may look messy, but it’s quite effective. After several failed attempts, they finally cleared floor 1,000 with 11 seconds to spare.
Sadly, despite the chat going wild when they achieved this milestone, there’s no tangible reward for completing it. Sure, you get the usual experience points and a stash of rare weapons from tackling tough floors, but there’s no title, costume, or even dialogue acknowledging this monumental feat. It seems there’s little incentive to push through to floor 1,000, making it a grueling and thankless endeavor for anyone other than the first player to achieve it.
So, hats off to the player for their incredible achievement, and a heads-up to everyone else: if you’re tackling the Bottomless Buffet in Splatoon Raiders, it’s perfectly fine to stop at 100. There is indeed a bottom to the misleadingly named Bottomless Buffet, but all that awaits you down there is a heap of salmon and a lot of frustration.
