Amazon Raises Prices on Echo, Fire TV, and Kindle Devices by Up to 60%
Amazon has announced price hikes on its Echo, Kindle, Fire TV, and Eero devices, with increases reaching as high as 60 percent, primarily due to rising costs in memory and storage components. The most affordable items took the biggest hits, with the Echo Dot smart speaker jumping from $49.99 to $79.99. The Fire TV Stick 4K Max saw a price increase of over 40 percent, now retailing at $84.99, while the entry-level Kindle has risen to $149.99, marking a nearly 37 percent jump.
In a statement, a senior communications manager from Amazon’s Devices & Services division explained that the consumer electronics sector is grappling with significant cost increases. After absorbing these costs for as long as possible, they felt it necessary to adjust prices across their product range. They emphasized their ongoing commitment to providing quality products at reasonable prices.
The flagship Echo Dot Max smart speaker, which debuted last year, now retails for $119.99, up from $99.99. In a similar move, Apple raised the price of its HomePod Mini to $129 from $99.99 this summer, also in response to rising costs. Meanwhile, the Google Home Speaker remains priced at $99.99 for the time being.
Notably, Amazon’s Ring cameras, video doorbells, and the Echo Studio, which is priced at $219.99, have not seen any price changes.
