Rebel Wolves to Release Day One Console Patch for Dawnwalker Amid Performance Concerns

Promised as a day-one patch, The Blood of Dawnwalker will feature a performance mode aimed at achieving 60 fps on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X. This gives console players the option to select from quality (30 fps), balanced (40 fps), and performance mode (60 fps) when the game launches on September 3.

This announcement comes in response to fan feedback; in a now-private YouTube video from August 21 that showcased console gameplay, developer Rebel Wolves only highlighted the quality and balanced modes. While they didn’t explicitly rule out a 60 fps mode, many fans interpreted the omission as a lack of support for it.

In the comments section of the console gameplay trailer, which remains available, reactions range from “It’s 2026, 60 fps should be the bare minimum,” to “30 fps on a current-gen console in 2026 is criminal.” It seems Rebel Wolves took this feedback seriously.

In a post on social media, Rebel Wolves clarified that the announcement was delayed until they were confident in delivering a performance mode at launch. They noted, “[It] was already in the works, but it was still being tested. We simply weren’t ready to promise it yet.”

Unfortunately, players on Xbox Series S will not benefit from this update, as The Blood of Dawnwalker will be limited to 30 fps on that platform.

Maybe not the Switch upgrade you were hoping for.
