Preorder Information for the New Mac Mini and Mac Studio

Apple has unveiled two new processors, the M6 and M5 Ultra, alongside refreshed Mac Mini and Mac Studio machines that utilize these chips. Preorders for the new devices are now open, with shipping for most configurations set to begin on September 22nd, 2026. The Mac Mini starts at $899, which is $300 more than the base model equipped with the M4 from 2024, while the Mac Studio also starts at $2,499, matching the price of the current M4 Max model.

This announcement comes just weeks before Apple’s typical annual iPhone event. The upgraded macOS machines emphasize AI performance and enhanced connectivity, with Apple touting significant performance improvements over previous models.

The Mac Mini featuring the M6 chip is priced at $899, while the version with the M5 Pro starts at $1,699. The previous generation only included the M4 and M4 Max chips, making this a substantial upgrade for Apple’s compact desktop. In addition to the processor enhancements, the new Mini boasts improved connectivity, including 2.5Gb Ethernet as standard, along with Bluetooth 6 and Wi-Fi 7.

The refreshed Mac Studio equipped with the M5 Max chip (featuring 36GB of unified memory and 512GB of storage) starts at $2,499, while the M5 Ultra version, which includes 96GB of RAM and a 1TB SSD, begins at $5,499. While the base models are set to ship on September 22nd, configurations with an impressive 512GB of RAM (pricing yet to be announced) will not be available until late October.
