Genshin Impact Developers Shift Focus from Zelda: Breath of the Wild to Elden Ring for Their Latest Action RPG
Kicking off Gamescom Opening Night Live today was Nodus Fall, an exciting new title from HoYoverse that bears a striking resemblance to the studio’s take on Elden Ring.
Nodus Fall is an original cooperative action game where players assume the role of a “Weaver” in a world where “divine authority has crumbled.” Teamwork is essential as you and your allies take on formidable “mythic beings.” The trailer showcases a variety of awe-inspiring creatures, including a dragon and a phoenix ruling the skies, a massive titan with a flaming head, a muscular figure smashing an anvil, and wolves roaming vast landscapes designed to make players feel minuscule. It also highlights dynamic swordplay and cooperative encounters where multiple players tackle colossal foes.
While I won’t dwell on the similarities to Elden Ring, it’s hard to ignore how much it resembles that game, particularly in the character designs and the composition of certain trailer scenes. The gameplay appears to blend elements from Elden Ring and Monster Hunter, and it’s pretty thrilling to see players leap onto the backs of giant adversaries during battles.
Nodus Fall is being developed using Unreal Engine 5, which is about the only detail we have at this point. There’s no release date announced yet, but we’ll keep you posted as more information becomes available.
