Upcoming Rainbow Six Siege Tactical Spin-Off Resembles XCOM
During Gamescom Opening Night Live 2026, a new spin-off in the Rainbow Six universe was unveiled: Rainbow Six Tactics. This turn-based tactical game is set within the world of Rainbow Six Siege and focuses on single-player gameplay.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics will feature 15 operators from the beloved online FPS, including fan favorites like Doc and Ash. Players will step into the shoes of Paul Bishop, the protagonist from Rainbow Six Vegas, who now commands his team remotely through a series of missions across 45 meticulously crafted maps and over 90 minutes of cinematic storytelling. The game is being developed by Ubisoft Paris, known for their work on the Mario + Rabbids tactical series.
In Tactics, players will assemble squads of operators to tackle various objectives such as hostage rescues, bomb defusals, and target eliminations. You’ll have the ability to plan your breaches and execute all your moves simultaneously in real time. True to the franchise, players can break down walls and doors to eliminate foes, create new sightlines, and open pathways, allowing for creative mission completion.
Ubisoft has confirmed that R6 Tactics will tie into the ongoing Siege storyline, taking place between seasons 10 and 11. For those invested in Siege’s narrative, this will add depth, while others can still enjoy the game as a standalone tactical experience reminiscent of X-Com.
Importantly, Ubisoft has stated that there will be no in-game store or microtransactions. Rainbow Six Tactics is set to launch on PC, Xbox, and PS5 in 2027, with a price tag of $50.
