Lego Unveils Highly Anticipated New Mario Sets

Nintendo and Lego are keeping their collaboration alive and kicking. At Gamescom, Lego Group unveiled its latest Super Mario set, which includes a highly anticipated feature: minifigures. As hinted earlier this year, the Super Mario Range is finally bringing this beloved plumber down to a more manageable size.

Eight new sets have been introduced as part of the Mario minifigure collection. One of the highlights, Mario’s Pipe Jump, showcases all the classic elements fans expect: a warp pipe, a Goomba, and Mario himself. A lever on the side allows you to “catapult Goomba out of the way … so Mario can collect his coin.” It seems even in the Lego universe, these little foes have it rough.

In addition to that, there are three Mario Kart sets. One features Mario equipped with various items, another showcases Bowser Jr. and Luigi in a race, while the third set includes four racers: Bowser, Goomba, Toad, and the internet’s favorite cow from Mario Kart World.

Beyond the racing fun, there’s a beach getaway where Mario rides the waves next to a Sidewinder, a set where he hangs out with Yoshi, and an epic showdown where Luigi takes on a Koopa Troopa. Perhaps the standout set is Fire Mario & Bowser’s Castle, which centers around the notorious villain and his fortress. Prices range from $9.99 for Mario’s Pipe Jump to $99.99 for Bowser’s Castle, with most sets falling on the more affordable side. These sets are set to launch on January 1, 2027.

“This is an amazing celebration of our partnership with Nintendo. Bringing Super Mario into Lego minifigure form feels like the beginning of something special,” said Patrick Otley, design manager at the Lego Group. “Our goal was to provide kids with the tools to build and create their own stories and adventures, enhancing playtime with these iconic characters. We want to give our fans more freedom to play as they wish, and with the addition of Lego Super Mario minifigures, we hope to inspire even more creativity.”

Remarkably, despite the numerous sets released, this is the first lineup in the Lego Super Mario collaboration to feature minifigures. The crossover kicked off in 2020 with the My First Course set, blending Lego with interactive video game elements.
