Discover New Armor and Weapons in Elden Ring’s Tarnished Edition

The new Elden Ring Tarnished Edition has dropped, introducing two fresh starting classes: the Idus Knight and Heavy Knight. Alongside these classes, players can look forward to new armor sets, weapons, and even Torrent skins for your trusty steed. If you kick off your journey as either the Idus Knight or Heavy Knight, you’ll snag one of the new armor sets and weapons right away. For those already in the game, here’s how to get your hands on the rest.

The Tarnished Edition also adds a variety of DLC weapons to the base game, including Backhand Blades, the Thrusting Shield, and the Great Katana. I’ll keep you updated as I discover their locations.

The armor for the Idus Knight class can be obtained in two ways. First, if you select this class at the start, you’ll receive the armor along with the Idus Sword weapon.

If you’re not starting fresh or already have a character, you can buy the armor set from the Nomadic Merchant located in north Liurnia of the Lakes. This merchant is positioned on the east side of the ravine leading to the Ruin Strewn Precipice, north of Bellum Church, southeast of Carian Manor, and west of the Grand Lift of Dectus. You can reach this area by traveling through Bellum Church via the plateau above or by riding to the end of the ravine and turning right up the slope.

You can also find the Idus Sword in southern Liurnia of the Lakes. Head northwest from the Liurnia Lake Shore grace and look for it on a corpse near a tree, as indicated in the marked location.

The Heavy Knight class also has its own armor set, and like the Silver Grooved, there are two ways to acquire it. If you start as this class, you’ll receive the armor set along with the Hefty Scimitar weapon.

For those who want the armor on an existing character, you can purchase it from the Isolated Merchant at the Isolated Merchant’s Shack in the western part of the Weeping Peninsula, south of the Fourth Church of Marika and the Witchbane Ruins, past the walking mausoleum towards the coast. I’m still on the hunt for the Hefty Scimitar’s location, so I’ll update you once I find it.

Leontiel’s armor set can be found in Caelid after you take down Starscourge Radahn at Caelid Castle on the southeast coast. Once you defeat the boss, hop on Torrent and ride north from the Starscourge Radahn grace towards the War-Dead Catacombs. Along the way, you’ll encounter Leontiel, who will invade you. Defeating her will reward you with Leontiel’s armor and her greatsword. Plus, she can assist you as a summon during the Radahn fight, which adds a fun twist.

The final armor set is located in Leyndell, Royal Capital, within the Altus Plateau. To obtain it, you need to cast the Law of Regression spell on the statue of Radagon during Brother Corhyn’s questline. You can acquire the Law of Regression spell by giving the Golden Order Principia prayerbook to Miriel or Corhyn, found on the upper floor of the arena where you battle the golden shade of Godfrey, First Elden Lord.

When you perform the spell at the statue, revealing Marika, you’ll be invaded by Broken Gold Mask. Defeating him will grant you the Broken Gold Mask headwear, Gold Tattoo arms, legs, and chest, along with the Golden Order Flail. If you’ve already transformed the statue, Broken Gold Mask will likely invade when you reach the marked location. If not, trying the spell again might trigger the invasion.

To navigate there, from the Erdtree Sanctuary grace (where you face the golden shade of Godfrey), exit the door, head down the stairs, and take the lift down. Follow the path down the next staircase to the bottom, where the statue will be right in front of you.
