Key Questions Surrounding GTA 6 That Remain Unanswered
Netflix’s recent showcase of Grand Theft Auto 6 has fans buzzing as they dive into the details of this highly anticipated title set to launch in 2026. Rockstar’s choice to unveil the footage on Netflix caught many off guard, leaving us all curious about what to expect. The presentation turned out to be a straightforward gameplay exploration, devoid of any developer commentary.
While other previews are circulating, there are still several pressing questions about GTA 6 that remain unanswered. Here are some of the most significant ones.
Back in June, Rockstar shared pricing and preorder information, emphasizing that the game will focus on a “single-player experience.” However, speculation continues about whether Rockstar is developing a new online game to follow GTA 6 or if the existing GTA Online will evolve to include elements from the new game, such as locations and events. Financial reports earlier this year indicated that GTA Online remains a lucrative venture for Rockstar and its parent company, so it’s likely they’ll want to keep that revenue stream flowing. We’ve explored potential future developments for GTA Online.
A recent leak has shed light on what Rockstar might do with its ever-evolving sandbox.
Despite nearly half an hour of gameplay featuring Jason and Lucia’s escapades in theft and sharpshooting, the identities of the actors voicing these characters remain a mystery. Rockstar has yet to disclose any information about the main or supporting cast. What we do know is that there are at least six primary characters, including our protagonists: Lucia Caminos, Jason Duval, Brian Heder, Cal Hampton, Raul Bautista, and Boobie Ike.
Historically, Rockstar has recruited well-known actors for its games. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City featured big names like Ray Liotta and Dennis Hopper, while Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas included talents such as Ice-T and Samuel L. Jackson. There’s an unconfirmed rumor that Liotta was approached to reprise his role as Tommy Vercetti but declined due to financial disagreements.
Given the lack of cast leaks, it seems likely that GTA 6 will follow the trend set by GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, opting for a talented ensemble of lesser-known voice actors who are less likely to demand hefty salaries or accidentally reveal details during interviews.
The Netflix reveal hinted at a budding relationship between Jason and Lucia, with Jason seen enjoying a soda in an apartment adorned with flamingo-print wallpaper and pink fairy lights, likely belonging to Lucia. However, it remains unclear if players will have the option to explore a romantic relationship with the characters. Rockstar North’s Rob Nelson mentioned that while the in-game romance will require effort and good behavior, players can choose to keep Jason and Lucia’s relationship platonic.
“I have to say it feels great — if you are into it as a concept. Don’t bother with it if you aren’t. Up to you,” Nelson stated. “The narrative is structured in such a way that the circumstances they find themselves in require them to stay together for most of the story and work together. At the very least, they will get through most things as partners in crime.”
While the specifics of romantic interactions remain uncertain, previous leaks have confirmed the presence of strip clubs and a nudist colony, with diverse body types represented in detail. Yes, there will be full frontal nudity in GTA 6, although it may not have been showcased in the Netflix reveal.
The cover art for GTA 6 features a cheerful, toothy alligator, affectionately named “Auto” by fans. Despite a brief and exciting fan-boat sequence in the reveal, there were disappointingly few alligator moments during the presentation. Previous trailers have shown alligators, and the latest footage even included a cute pitbull. If I have to maintain a healthy lifestyle in this game, I should at least be able to keep a massive, truck-sized reptile as a pet. This is a common practice in Florida! Someone needs to get in touch with Strauss Zelnick about this.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on November 19.
