The final trailer for GTA 6 has arrived ahead of its release.
It’s been over a year since we last caught a glimpse of Rockstar Games’ Bonnie and Clyde through official channels, but today, the developer has teamed up with Netflix to unveil the most exciting look at Grand Theft Auto 6 yet. Despite the recent leaks from hackers, the open-world potential in Leonida remains incredibly enticing.
With this new trailer, Rockstar is not only keeping fans in the loop about one of the most anticipated games ever but also subtly assuring everyone that GTA 6 is on track for its November 19 launch. Pre-orders are now available, with a standard version priced at $79.99 and a $100 Ultimate Edition that includes exclusive cosmetics and shops. Interestingly, it seems that many players are opting for the pricier Ultimate Edition.
Superfans will be in for a treat today as they dissect every frame for hints about what they can expect to do in Vice City. This fresh look at the game also means that mappers can update their plans ahead of the release.
GTA 6, marking the franchise’s return after over a decade, follows the story of Jason and Lucia, two lovers who dive into a life of crime. Previous trailers have shown Jason picking Lucia up from prison, but it remains to be seen if the narrative will focus solely on what happens next. What we do know is that, while Vice City is heavily tied to the 1980s, this installment will be set in modern times. I’m eager to see how this universe’s version of WW3 unfolds on Bleeter, GTA 6’s satirical take on social media.
The series has dabbled with multiple protagonists before, but this will be the first time it centers on a romantic relationship. This setup promises plenty of drama, especially with the new relationship mechanics. Regardless of the story direction, Rockstar’s apparent shift toward more progressive in-game politics will be intriguing to observe.
However, the lead-up to this trailer has not been without its challenges. Last year, protests erupted outside Rockstar’s Edinburgh office following the dismissal of 30 employees. Former staff members claimed they were advocating for better working conditions, including crunch time, pay, and overall work arrangements. Additionally, Rockstar has faced several data breaches in recent years, one of which leaked an unfinished version of GTA 6.
Some leaks have merely confirmed what many already suspected: Grand Theft Auto, especially GTA Online, generates a staggering amount of revenue for Rockstar. It’s no surprise that the developer is collaborating closely with community members for the next generation of its quasi-MMO.
The latest leaks have revealed shocking nudity, impressive NPC density, a revamped Wanted system, and a dynamic day/night cycle. While none of these revelations have been particularly groundbreaking, the hackers have fostered a toxic atmosphere around the unauthorized gameplay. The group behind the August leaks has even used the attention to promote a crypto coin that reportedly raised millions, claiming the leaks were a form of protest against Rockstar’s business practices and encouraging fans to demonstrate outside the studio.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on November 19, with a PC version yet to be announced.
Rockstar’s long-awaited sequel to GTA 5 is finally on the horizon.
