GTA 6 Lets You Pet Dogs and Even Throw Their Poop at NPCs

Grand Theft Auto is all about indulging our wildest fantasies of committing outrageous crimes. We’re talking about executing elaborate heists, engaging in high-speed chases, and looking fabulous while your partner pulls off something sneaky. In Grand Theft Auto 6, we can add a new twist to our criminal escapades: picking up a hefty, smelly pile of dog poop and hurling it at someone who’s really gotten on your nerves.

This juicy tidbit comes from a YouTuber who had a sneak peek at the game and chatted with Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North. While there wasn’t any footage to back it up, the YouTuber reported that Nelson confirmed, “If someone out on the street is walking their dog and their dog takes a dump, you can wait for the person to pick up the dog poop with a doggy bag, and then you can hit that person, making them drop the doggy bag full of dog crap, and then you can actually pick that up and throw it at people.”

Honestly, that’s just hilarious. There are definitely characters in this game who deserve a face full of dog waste, though I’m not sure how I feel about having to pick it up myself first. GTA 6 also features other dog interactions that are much less gross: you can pet dogs and even “scold” them, though it’s unclear why anyone would want to do that. One scene in the trailer hints that the main characters, Lucia and Jason, either have a dog or live with someone who does, and apparently, your dog (or someone else’s) can somehow predict winning lottery numbers. Dogs are awesome.

But the poop-throwing mechanic highlights a broader system of interactions throughout GTA 6, including the ability to eat an apple and toss the core away, or get NPCs to drop various items beyond just weapons. Actions like throwing away your own trash or petting dogs contribute to the game’s unique morality system, which doesn’t exactly push you to be a good person but rather encourages you to be a clever criminal: staying stealthy, avoiding harm to innocent bystanders, and so on.

We recently learned a ton of new details about GTA 6 from a lengthy trailer and a slew of previews, but we’ve managed to distill the most exciting bits into a more digestible format.
