BYOK’s Distraction-Free Writing Tool Introduces Custom Extensions

BYOK is a straightforward, single-purpose device that many might consider unnecessary. However, for those who dedicate a lot of time to writing, its appeal is clear. Personally, I believe it shines when used for basic text drafting. Yet, some users crave more functionality. They want BYOK to assist with note-taking, screenplay writing, or even organizing a complex novel.

Nick Sjolinder, the founder of BYOK, has been working to address the diverse needs of these more demanding users. His solution appears to be the introduction of scripts. Instead of overloading BYOK with features that the majority of users may not utilize or complicating the Studio app with additional formats, the plan is to offer optional scripts that enhance BYOK’s functionality.

Users will soon be able to create tools like a screenplay assistant, a character note organizer, and a writing analyzer. These features could allow users to highlight text in a document and extract it as a note or receive alerts when they use passive voice. While these scripting features are still in the early stages of development and haven’t been released to the public yet, BYOK is actively seeking input from its user base.
