Intergalactic Wraps Up Filming, Naughty Dog Eager to Reveal More at the Right Moment

Naughty Dog has been keeping a low profile about its upcoming sci-fi action title, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, but there’s exciting news: the studio has completed filming the motion-capture performances of its actors.

This update was shared on the studio’s social media, featuring a snapshot of lead actor Tati Gabrielle in her motion capture gear, brandishing a plastic gun prop.

“See you, space cowboy… That’s a wrap on the very ambitious Intergalactic cinematic shoot! This cast killed it! Cannot wait to show you their incredible work when the time is right!”

How advanced is the game’s development? That remains uncertain. Current reports suggest a target release in 2027, which aligns with the motion-capture timelines of previous Naughty Dog titles. For instance, Nolan North, the voice of Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series, finished his motion capture for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in October 2015, with the game launching on PS4 the following May.

However, it seems unlikely that Intergalactic is that far along just yet. Much of Naughty Dog’s team was reportedly focused on The Last of Us Online until its cancellation in 2023. Still, this milestone is a significant step forward, and fans are hopeful for more updates soon.

Sony has announced a State of Play showcase on September 3, raising hopes that we might catch a glimpse of Intergalactic. Alternatively, this could be Naughty Dog’s way of addressing speculation about the game’s status if it doesn’t appear at the event. Insider NateTheHat recently hinted that the game might be aiming for a release in the latter half of 2027.

Naughty Dog’s last original title was 2020’s The Last of Us Part II, followed by remasters and ports of both TLOU games and the Uncharted PS4 titles. The studio was also developing a live-service multiplayer game set in The Last of Us universe before it was canceled in 2023.
