Sony’s latest party speakers boost bass, feature vibrant LEDs, and offer enhanced connectivity options.

Sony has unveiled three new tower-style party speakers, marking the largest additions to its ULT Power Sound lineup. The ULT Tower Max, ULT Tower 7, and ULT Tower 5 come equipped with enhanced connectivity options, including USB-C, RCA, and XLR ports, allowing for seamless connections to various audio equipment. These models also boast upgraded lighting, featuring up to 100 LEDs that provide visual cues for battery life and Bluetooth syncing, while also creating a dynamic light show that syncs with your music.

The standout of the new lineup is the hefty $1,499.99 Tower Max, weighing in at 121 pounds and large enough to serve as a coffee table. It houses four tweeters, two midrange drivers, and three 280mm woofers, delivering what Sony claims to be the most powerful bass in its ULT Power Sound series.

All three speakers come with four redesigned handles for improved portability, and both the Tower Max and Tower 7 are equipped with wider wheels for easier movement. For the first time, users can adjust the EQ settings for the speakers’ default sound profiles, including ULT1 and ULT2 for maximum bass, or a Flat mode that aims to reproduce a song’s original mix without overwhelming bass.

The 50-pound Tower 7, priced at $649.99, features a single 280mm woofer, two midrange drivers, and four tweeters, offering up to 30 hours of playback on a built-in rechargeable battery with the LED lights off. The smallest model, the 29-pound Tower 5, retails for $449.99 and provides up to 20 hours of battery life, powered by a 230mm woofer, two midrange drivers, and a pair of tweeters. It shares the same IPX4 water resistance rating as the Tower 7, but only when used in a vertical position. The Tower Max, on the other hand, is only “splash proof” on its top panel, making it best suited for indoor use.
