The Witcher 3 Team Addresses My Top Two Concerns About the Remaster

The Witcher 3 is set for another upgrade, as CD Projekt Red continues to enhance this classic title. However, this new version could pose challenges for players who have already poured countless hours into their existing saves and trophy hunting. The good news is that The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt Remastered will transfer all your important data to the latest version.

“We’ve seen your questions about The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered!” CDPR announced on X. “Great news: your current saves will work with the upgrade, so you can jump back on the Path right where you left off. Your unlocked achievements and trophies will carry over too!”

This confirms that the remaster will serve as an upgrade to the current PS5/Xbox Series X/S version, rather than a completely new release. While this may seem clear to newcomers, it’s a significant detail for fans who have already navigated the complexities of switching versions.

Dare I ask for a separate trophy list? I wanna platinum it again.

When The Witcher 3 received its “next-gen” upgrade for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2022, it was treated as a separate version. Although CDPR implemented a cloud save transfer feature to help players move their latest save from the older version, it was still a cumbersome process.

To make matters worse, the “next-gen” version didn’t automatically unlock your existing trophies and achievements. They were treated as separate sets that had to be earned again, which ultimately derailed my quest for the platinum trophy since all my progress was tied to the PS4 version.

Fortunately, players won’t have to face that frustration again, and those like me will be motivated to continue their “Death March!” difficulty run in the remastered version of The Witcher 3, launching on September 29.
