Lollipop Chainsaw Sequel Set for Major Reveal at Tokyo Game Show

Lollipop Chainsaw has carved out a unique niche in gaming history with its wild and outrageous approach to zombie action, a legacy that remains largely intact despite mixed reactions to its 2024 remaster. This makes the announcement of protagonist Juliet’s return, over a decade after the original, an exciting development for dedicated fans. However, details remain sparse, with only the reveal at Tokyo Game Show 2026 confirmed so far, and none of the original team members returning for the sequel.

Discussion among fans kicked off following the unexpected announcement in July 2025, which also included news of an anime adaptation from the new development team at Dragami Games. They promised to respect “the spirit of the original work” while avoiding “excessive creative restrictions in the name of DEI.”

After a lengthy silence, new information has finally emerged, including the game’s grand reveal at this month’s Tokyo Game Show and its first playable demo. Sega will be showcasing the game at their booth in Japan and Southeast Asia, with cosplayer PeachyMilky making an appearance dressed as Juliet Starling.

Additionally, a stage show on both Friday and Saturday will provide more insights from the game’s director, Mr. Nasu, and Hajime Tabata, the former COO of Luminous Productions and current CEO of JP Universe, who is also working on OwnWorld, an AI-driven RPG engine.

While Dragami Games contributed to the recent remaster, it seems that key figures from the original game will not be involved in this sequel. The only confirmed name so far is the director, with Grasshopper, Suda51, and Tomo Ikeda, the original directors, not listed as part of the new project. Dragami has indicated that some individuals from the first game’s development will be involved, but no specific names have been disclosed.

The promotional image hints at Juliet sporting a more conservative letterman jacket as she confronts zombie hands reaching out to her.
