Figuring out how to escape Xanthe’s trap in The Blood of Dawnwalker took me longer than I’d like to admit. This tricky situation arises during your assault on Griefberg Castle if you opted not to spare Xanthe or outright eliminated her before diving into the final sequence. Spoilers ahead, but I’ll guide you through escaping the trap she sets from beyond the grave.

The secret to navigating Xanthe’s labyrinth lies in the banners hanging next to each door. You’ll want to head through the doors that feature the triangular, downward-pointing banner with a tentacled eye. There’s a note earlier in the castle that clarifies that the only way into the dungeon is by following these banners.

Once you find yourself in the trap, you’ll need to take out the enemies in the main room, then head through the door directly ahead and to your left. Pull back the bookcase to reveal a hole to drop down into. After that, return to the main room, defeat the enemies again, locate the door with the banner, and drop down once more. Finally, re-enter the main room, eliminate the enemies, find the banner, and go through the door next to it to drop down the hole.
