Defeating the Ravenous Bear in The Blood of Dawnwalker: A Guide to Completing Into the Den

Facing the Ravenous Bear is one of the first major combat challenges you’ll encounter in the prologue of Blood of Dawnwalker. At this stage, your skills and gear are limited, making the battle feel drawn out. Once you take it down, you’ll need to hunt for treasure as part of the Into the Den quest. Here’s how to tackle both tasks.

The Ravenous Bear stands out as the toughest early boss near Laslea. To help you conquer it, I’ve included some strategies along with a video showcasing the fight.

With these tips, you should be well-equipped to defeat the bear. Afterward, check the mangled corpse behind it to kick off the Into the Den quest.

Reading the Tattered Letter found on the corpse will initiate the quest, directing you to a search area in the northwest where you need to locate the stash mentioned in the note. Specifically, you’re on the lookout for a “flat stone marked with an X.”

You can find this treasure inside a ramshackle hut with a door on the west side of the search area—it’s the only building with a door, so it’s hard to overlook. If you’re still unsure, follow the nearby shrine west along the road, and you’ll see the hut to your left as you pass.

Once you loot the treasure (which takes one time cycle), you’ll score the stylish Artisan’s Tunic, the powerful Rebel’s Falchion shortsword, and a useful note detailing where to sell any silver you might come across later in the game, a material that’s strictly off-limits for the vamps for obvious reasons.
