HBO’s Harry Potter series announces new actors for Dobby and young Voldemort.

Three months ahead of the debut of the new adaptation of *Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone*, casting updates for the second season—likely titled *Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets*—have been announced. This includes the introduction of a new Dobby and Tom Riddle, along with a recast for Ginny Weasley.

Leading the charge is Billy Barratt, who will portray Tom Riddle, the young version of Lord Voldemort, in this reimagined series. At just 19, Barratt has made a name for himself through roles in Apple TV’s *Invasion* and the horror film *Bring Her Back*. He’s also set to play Nathan Prescott in the upcoming *Life Is Strange* series adaptation and is the youngest recipient of the International Emmy Award for Best Actor for his performance in the BBC film *Responsible Child*. Barratt takes over the role from Christian Coulson, who played Riddle in the 2002 film.

Lenny Rush has been cast as Dobby the house-elf for season 2. The 17-year-old actor is recognized for his role in the comedy-drama series *Am I Being Unreasonable?*, which earned him a British Academy Television Award for Best Male Comedy Performance. In the original film series, Dobby was voiced by Toby Jones and was created using CGI.

Bonnie Hill will step into the role of Ginny Weasley, taking over from Gracie Cochrane, who portrayed her in season 1. Hill has appeared in Netflix’s *The Six Triple Eight* and *Girl Troop vs Aliens*, where she also played a character named Ginny. In the original films, Ginny was played by Bonnie Wright.

Joining the new cast is Kit Harington, known for *Game of Thrones*, who will take on the role of Gilderoy Lockhart, previously portrayed by Kenneth Branagh in *Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets*.

The fresh cast lineup features young leads Dominic McLaughlin as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. They will be supported by a stellar ensemble including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Lox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Leo Earley as Seamus Finnigan, Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, Tristan Harland as Fred Weasley, Gabriel Harland as George Weasley, Ruari Spooner as Percy Weasley, Alessia Leoni as Parvati Patil, Sienna Moosah as Lavender Brown, Finn Stephens as Vincent Crabbe, William Nash as Gregory Goyle, Warwick Davis as Filius Flitwick, and Sirine Saba as Pomona Sprout.

The extensive cast also includes Daniel Rigby as Vernon Dursley, Bel Powley as Petunia Dursley, Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Johnny Flynn as Lucius Malfoy, Bertie Carvel as Cornelius Fudge, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Gracie Cochrane as Ginny Weasley, Richard Durden as Cuthbert Binns, Louise Brealey as Rolanda Hooch, Bríd Brennan as Poppy Pomfrey, Leigh Gill as Griphook, and Anton Lesser as Garrick Ollivander.

*Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone* is set to premiere on HBO on December 25.
