Filming for Season 2 of Alien: Earth Has Officially Begun
One of the standout series of 2025 is *Alien: Earth*, a sci-fi horror show crafted by Noah Hawley, set in the iconic universe that Ridley Scott introduced in his 1979 classic. Following a wave of acclaim from both critics and fans, the series was renewed for a second season on November 11, 2025. While there have been some updates regarding casting, details about the start of production were scarce—until now.
On September 3, FX shared a brief video on its official Instagram, revealing that production for season 2 has officially kicked off. The clip, lasting around ten seconds, offers a glimpse of the behind-the-scenes action. The first season’s production spanned about five months, interrupted by the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. If season 2 adheres to a similar timeline, we can expect it to wrap up in early 2027.
Creator Noah Hawley is back as showrunner, bringing along most of the original cast, with Sydney Chandler reprising her role as Wendy. Season 2 will also introduce new faces, including Peter Dinklage, Tracey Ullman, Sam Spruell, and Jerome Flynn. Hawley previously collaborated with Spruell on *Fargo*, while Dinklage and Flynn shared the screen in *Game of Thrones*.
For *Alien* enthusiasts, this is an exciting time. Alongside *Alien: Earth* Season 2, there are at least two other significant projects in development. The 2014 game *Alien: Isolation* is finally getting a sequel, which promises to be even more terrifying than its predecessor. Set on an Earth-like colony, it will feature a new protagonist who is not Amanda Ripley, as confirmed by Sega.
On the film side, Ridley Scott, the visionary behind the franchise, is returning to direct a new movie. At the end of August, he announced that he is working on another prequel, following *Prometheus* and *Alien: Covenant*, which will center on Michael Fassbender’s character, David. This news hints that Scott is reclaiming the franchise after the success of 2024’s *Alien: Romulus*, directed by Fede Álvarez. While that film did exceptionally well at the box office, the chances of a sequel may be slim with Scott back at the helm.
