Discover the world through immersive field recordings.

I’m a huge fan of field recordings. I enjoy creating them and love how they blend into my ambient music. They serve as perfect background noise for working or drifting off to sleep, but they also shine during active listening, allowing you to appreciate the subtle details of babbling brooks or the hustle and bustle of city life. Earth Garden offers a unique globe to explore, featuring authentic field recordings from various locations around the world. Unlike Radio Garden, which focuses on radio broadcasts, this experience immerses you in environmental sounds. Picture the gentle waves washing up on the shores of remote Atlantic islands, the symphony of crickets in Tanzania, or the steady rainfall on the streets of Manhattan—there’s definitely a lot of that!

The recordings are sourced from Freesound, which means the quality can be a bit hit or miss, and the volume levels between clips might not always match up. Additionally, most recordings are concentrated in the US and Europe, particularly the UK. Still, it’s a delightful experience to let the globe spin automatically, transitioning to new sounds as the reticle hones in on different locations. You can even hit a button to layer in some ambient drones for an extra touch.
