Persona 4 Revival Features a New Voice Actor for a Key Character

At the recent PAX West panel for Persona 4 Revival, Atlus unveiled an exciting sizzle reel trailer featuring Kanji Tatsumi, one of the game’s standout characters. While Kanji has previously been voiced by Troy Baker and Matt Mercer, this new remake will introduce a fresh voice actor for the role.

Daman Mills has been announced as the new voice behind Kanji Tatsumi. Known for voicing Frieza in the Dragon Ball series, Mills has also lent his talents to characters in games like Borderlands 3, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and Yakuza Kiwami 3.

Mills has a solid history with Atlus, having voiced Aogami in Shin Megami Tensei 5, Madam Ginko in Soul Hackers 2, Takaya Sakaki in Persona 3 Reload, and Auch in Unicorn Overlord. Given that Atlus is recasting all characters for this remake, it makes sense they chose Mills for this iconic role.

Kanji Tatsumi is a crucial character for this remake to get right. Not only has he been voiced by two of the industry’s most renowned voice actors, but he also represents an early example of a video game character exploring gender identity. The remake aims to address the complexities of his interactions with other characters, particularly Yosuke.

Mills shared his thoughts on Kanji during the panel, stating, “While he has a more masculine-leaning approach with his whole identity, he also has some femininity to him as well that I really like and admire. I think for Kanji, it leads to some insecurities overall within the story, making him a bit afraid because it’s not necessarily a social norm. But we gradually see him progress through that within the story, facing those trials and growing, and it has just been such an incredible thing to experience. I really enjoy the character very much.”

Persona 4 Revival is set to launch on PS5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X on February 18, 2027, and will be available on Game Pass from day one.

Atlus aims to make P4R “a bit more fitting for the world we live in now.”
