Rain World, the beloved cult classic platformer, is set to launch in a definitive edition on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Rain World, an atmospheric cult classic platformer from Videocult, is set to make its debut on the Nintendo Switch 2 with the upcoming Anthology Edition. During an indie publisher’s first game showcase, it was revealed that the Rain World Anthology Edition will also receive a physical release, alongside updates on several other exciting indie titles.

For those unfamiliar with Videocult’s Rain World, it offers a unique mix of cinematic puzzle-platforming reminiscent of Limbo, combined with survival elements. Players take on the role of a slugcat navigating a post-apocalyptic landscape, scavenging for food, battling other creatures, and finding safe spots to hibernate before the deadly rain descends. While the game’s relentless tension and challenging gameplay may not appeal to everyone, its dedicated fanbase truly cherishes it, solidifying its cult classic status.

The Rain World Anthology Edition will package the base game along with its two expansions, Downpour and The Watcher, for a physical release. Both PS5 and Nintendo Switch versions are on the way, but this edition marks the game’s arrival on the Nintendo Switch 2 as well. In collaboration with Serenity Forge, a standard edition will feature an embossed slipcover, while a Collector’s Edition will include an art book, scarf, keychain, standee, sticker sheet, and soundtrack.

While the Rain World: Anthology Edition was the highlight of the showcase, it wasn’t the only announcement. Videocult also confirmed that their next title, Airframe Ultra, is set to launch on November 5. Developers Paul Hart and Lee Williams introduced Bonespire, a crafting simulation game set in a wizard tower. Additionally, a retro platformer titled Aokaki and a desktop companion app called Working with Montabi were announced.

In terms of updates on previously known titles, the showcase revealed that the second episode of Kumitantei: Old Slaughter will be available on Steam starting November 12, along with a new trailer and demo for The Darkside Detective: Backside of the Moon. Overall, it was a strong debut indie showcase, and it’s definitely reigniting my interest in revisiting Rain World soon.
