Cargo Plane Accident at Miami International Airport

An Amazon-branded plane skidded off the runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday while landing, colliding with vehicles and causing several injuries. The full extent of the damage and the seriousness of the injuries remained unclear at the time of reporting.

Following the incident, the FAA issued a statement noting:
> 21 Air Flight 7598 overran the runway after landing at Miami International Airport around 2 p.m. local time on Sunday, Sept. 6. The Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft had taken off from Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

As a result of the crash, all flights at the airport were halted, and over 60 units from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, responders found the aircraft ablaze and emitting thick smoke. Footage from the scene clearly shows the Amazon logo on the plane’s tail and smoke billowing from where it came to rest, just across the road from the airport.

An Amazon representative, Kelly Nantel, stated:
> “We can confirm that an Amazon Air plane operated by 21 Air experienced an incident while attempting to land at Miami International Airport today. This is a fast-moving situation and we’re still gathering details. We’re working closely with local authorities and officials to understand exactly what happened. Right now, our absolute priority is the safety, well-being, and care of everyone involved. We’re doing everything we can to support those affected.”
