Fortnite Unveils Mega Man Tournament and New Collaboration Skins

Mega Man is shaping up to be one of the most exciting collaborations in Chapter 7 Season 4 of Fortnite. Teased since the last season wrapped up, fans have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Mega Man skins, even though some items inspired by the character have already made their way into the game. The wait is almost over, as Epic Games has announced that Mega Man cosmetics will be available following a themed tournament.

Fortnite Override, the current season, revolves around retro gaming and hacking, allowing Epic to bring in a variety of iconic video game characters. Mega Man was among the first teased, with a Mega Man cartridge appearing in the override console that emerged after the Unstable Event at the Zero Point. However, more than two weeks into the season, he has yet to make his debut.

That’s about to change with the Mega Man Cup scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 8. This event will give players a chance to earn Mega Man cosmetics for free before they hit the Item Shop. While the specific rules are still under wraps, leaks suggest it will be a duos tournament across Battle Royale, Zero Build, and mobile platforms.

Based on the promotional image for the Mega Man Cup and previous footage from the trailer, it seems likely that players will receive the standard Mega Man skin along with an alternative style inspired by Mega Man X. Typically, skins become available in the Item Shop shortly after being offered in tournaments, so players can expect Mega Man to drop on Wednesday or Thursday.

To snag Mega Man for free, players will need to rank among the top participants in their region. Additionally, they can earn a Mega Man emoticon by scoring eight points through eliminations and survival time, and the Override Buster Blast spray by achieving 25 eliminations with the Mega Buster (or five on mobile).

But Mega Man isn’t the only character from this universe making waves in Fortnite; a video teaser has revealed that Zero, from Mega Man X, will also be joining the fray as part of this collaboration.
