Marvel Rivals Unveils New Character, Clarifying Loki’s Departure from the Game

NetEase Games has officially unveiled season 10 of Marvel Rivals, and the announcement trailer dropped some major surprises. As teased in recent weeks, this season will prominently feature Gorr the God Butcher. Even before players can take control of this iconic Thor antagonist, he’s already making waves in the game.

The trailer showcases Gorr launching an assault on Asgard and clashing with Loki. In a dramatic moment, Gorr drives All-Black the Necrosword through Loki, seemingly eliminating him from the game. This development is reflected in the current roster, where Loki is now marked as deceased and unavailable for play. This clever narrative twist adds depth to the ongoing storyline and raises concerns for other divine characters still in the game. With the season 10 launch set for September 11, players can expect Loki to return eventually, but the story’s explanation for his comeback remains a mystery.

Gorr will be available on the same day as the new season. He serves as a duelist, akin to a DPS hero in Marvel Rivals. All-Black will have the ability to shift into various forms based on the combat scenario. When Gorr takes down foes, phantom Black Berserkers will rise to continue the fight. He also boasts mobility options like dashing and teleporting across the map. His ultimate ability appears to enhance All-Black’s power, unleashing a fierce barrage against enemies alongside more formidable Black Berserkers.

Additionally, season 10 will introduce the domination map, God Quarry. On the cosmetic front, players can look forward to the Jeff’s Dream Eater event, which will feature a range of pajama outfits for heroes. Despite earlier speculation about the addition of more X-Men characters in the latter half of season 10, it has been confirmed that Gorr will be the sole new hero introduced this season. The second half will focus on rolling out phases three and four of the ongoing Path to Doomsday event, which will bring new game modes inspired by the MCU’s Avengers films.
