25 Stunning Comparison Images Highlighting the Visual Upgrade of the Ocarina of Time Remake Versus the Original

This morning, we transitioned from having just a single image of the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake to catching glimpses of most key moments in the game. This was made possible by the Zelda Direct, which showcased an extended gameplay segment along with a full trailer packed with new content.

Regardless of your opinions on the visual style, it’s exciting to witness a classic game being reimagined with modern technology, especially considering the advancements since Ocarina first launched. I’ve sifted through the gameplay and trailer to highlight 25 moments, allowing us to compare them with their counterparts in the original game and see how far we’ve come.

(Some of these comparisons aren’t exact, but I aimed to get as close as possible.)

It’s a bit of a bummer that Link can now see over the counter properly.

Interestingly, the original Ocarina of Time didn’t feature a grand view of Hyrule Field like the remake does. They had to throw in a mini “Breath of the Wild” moment, I suppose!

Comparing the Castle Towns is tricky since the new free camera in the remake allows for any angle, and we didn’t see the original perspective in this gameplay segment.

The inside of Jabu-Jabu is going to be quite the challenge, huh?

I’m thrilled they maintained the Great Fairy’s original design!

This hallway was quite impressive back in the day. It may not hold the same weight now, but it’s still pretty cool.

And yes, Link can swim now!

The Ocarina of Time remake is set to release on November 5, 2026, for Nintendo Switch 2.
