GTA 6 Launch Times May Lead to Extended Waits for Players
The PlayStation Store might soon unveil fresh details about the release timings for Grand Theft Auto 6 across various regions, hinting that Rockstar Games could be planning a staggered launch for this highly anticipated sequel. If this information holds true, fans in New Zealand could get a multi-hour head start to dive into the world of GTA 6.
Efforts to confirm this with Rockstar are ongoing, but it appears that Grand Theft Auto 6 won’t be available simultaneously worldwide. Instead, the game is expected to launch at 12 a.m. local time in each region, meaning players will gain access at different times based on their location, according to PlayStation Store data.
While a staggered release might seem inconvenient at first, it does offer some fans a chance to get a jump on the action. Xbox players can simply switch their console’s region to New Zealand and start playing as soon as it hits 12 a.m. NZDT. However, for PlayStation users, the process is more complex due to region-locked accounts. It’s uncertain whether Rockstar can persuade Sony to alter its approach to regional rollouts.
To get a head start on GTA 6 for PlayStation, players will need to create a new account set to New Zealand as its region. Additionally, they will have to play the game on this new account instead of their primary one, as Grand Theft Auto 6 is region-locked on PlayStation.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on November 19.
It’s trickier than it sounds!
