Xbox Players Get Exclusive Call of Duty Gun Skin Unseen by PlayStation Users
The console war has shifted to a new arena with the latest entry in the Call of Duty franchise. Xbox players are set to receive an exclusive Modern Warfare 4 gun skin that PlayStation and PC gamers won’t even be able to see.
Activision has unveiled the “Inner Circuit” M4 blueprint as a reward for those who digitally pre-order Modern Warfare 4.
While all players will have access to the same weapon blueprint with identical stats, Xbox users will enjoy a unique visual twist.
This Xbox-exclusive skin commemorates the console’s 25th anniversary, featuring a translucent green design reminiscent of the original Xbox, complete with Xbox branding on the magazine. In contrast, players on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and Windows PC will see a more conventional military-style version of the weapon.
While console-exclusive skins are not unusual, the twist here is that the Xbox version is invisible to players on other platforms.
If an Xbox player encounters someone on PC or PlayStation and pulls out their eye-catching translucent-green M4, those players will only see the standard version of the weapon. The appearance is tied to the platform, and players cannot change it themselves.
Fortunately, there’s no competitive edge to worry about. Activision has confirmed that both versions share the same attachments and gameplay characteristics. The only distinction lies in their appearance. According to the blog post, the Inner Circuit M4 is designed for accuracy, handling, and mobility, making it effective for close- and mid-range combat. It can also serve as a mobile secondary option alongside a sniper loadout.
While platform-specific bonuses in Call of Duty are not a new concept, creating a cosmetic that is only visible to Xbox players adds an intriguing twist.
Modern Warfare 4 is set to launch on October 23 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
