Chun-Li’s Stunt Double Wore Butt Pads to Match Callina Liang’s Thunder Thighs in Street Fighter Film

Chun-Li stands out as one of the most legendary characters in the Street Fighter franchise, known not just for her signature buns and blue qipao dress, but also for her impressive thunder thighs. As a character renowned for her kicking prowess, her physique is a testament to her fighting style. In the upcoming Street Fighter movie, the production team took special measures to ensure authenticity, having the character’s stunt double wear butt pads to replicate the look of actor Callina Liang, who underwent intense training to embody Chun-Li’s iconic legs.

During a Q&A session with the cast and crew, director Kitao Sakurai shared an amusing anecdote about the stunt doubles. He recalled a moment while filming a later scene when he noticed the stunt double and asked, “What are you wearing?” The response revealed that the double was sporting butt pads to match Liang’s physique.

Actor Noah Centineo, who plays Ken, chimed in with a joke, saying, “Then we wore them out of solidarity, too.” Liang added, “We all had huge legs.”

Whatever it takes to bring Chun-Li to life. ????

Recently, Liang opened up about her fitness journey in an interview, detailing her rigorous training and high-protein diet aimed at recreating Chun-Li’s powerful legs. She described a demanding regimen that included martial arts training, stating, “Chun-Li is all kicks. So we did a bunch of Taekwondo training, Muay Thai, and Wushu (Kung Fu). I did two hours of that a day and strengthened my legs a lot and changed my diet drastically. When I was bulking, I ate 12 eggs a day. Every two hours I had to have a meal, and I was on the verge of throwing up. But it worked. By the end of the shoot, my thighs had grown six-and-a-half centimeters (roughly two inches) each.”

Liang is clearly dedicated to authentically portraying Chun-Li, even going so far as to download multiple Street Fighter games onto her PlayStation 5 to study various Chun-Li attacks.

The new Street Fighter movie hits theaters on October 16.
