Whalefall Reveals Its Most Terrifying Trailer to Date
I don’t know about you, but the thought of being swallowed by a whale during a morning swim has never crossed my mind. Luckily, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Daniel Kraus has tackled that very scenario in his novel, *Whalefall*, which is set to hit the big screen next month. Recently, a new trailer for this whale-themed horror flick was released, and it delivers the unsettling thrills you’d expect.
*Whalefall* centers on diver Jay Gardiner (Austin Abrams), who finds himself engulfed by a massive sperm whale. With just an hour of oxygen remaining, he must figure out how to escape before he suffocates and becomes a meal for the creature. The trailer features narration from his father (Josh Brolin), who shares survival wisdom like, “Remember: survivors survive.” Thanks for the advice, Dad!

Austin Abrams is gearing up for a spine-chilling autumn. While many of us might be enjoying apple picking or wandering through pumpkin patches, he’ll be battling his way out of a whale while also facing a zombie apocalypse in next week’s *Resident Evil*.
Although Abrams won’t be stepping into the shoes of fan-favorite Leon S. Kennedy, he will portray a new character crafted for the film. “I’d rather watch a movie starring a schlub who’s, like, out of shape and has never fired a gun before!” said *Resident Evil* director Zach Cregger. While Abrams isn’t exactly a schlub, he certainly embodies the essence of a terrified player trying to escape from a relentless zombie—and in *Whalefall*, a ravenous sperm whale.
*Whalefall* will be making its theatrical debut on October 16.
