Universal Music Teams Up with ElevenLabs to Launch AI Music Platform
Universal Music Group is set to unveil an innovative AI-driven platform that will enable users to tap into its extensive catalog of licensed music for creating remixes, mashups, and fresh interpretations of tracks. This initiative is being developed through a multiyear licensing agreement with ElevenLabs, a company known for its expertise in AI voice and music generation.
Artists will have the option to join UMG and ElevenLabs’ new platform, adding to the record label’s growing portfolio of AI collaborations. UMG is also working on an AI music platform with Udio and has established licensing agreements with various tech companies. Recently, Suno launched its first AI music model, which is trained on licensed tracks from Warner Music Group, BMG, and other industry partners.
The collaboration between UMG and ElevenLabs will extend to the creation of additional products and fan experiences in the future, although specific details about these developments have not been disclosed.
“By merging UMG’s global community and rights management expertise with our AI models and products, we’ll empower artists and songwriters to craft compelling new experiences for their fans while ensuring they receive fair compensation,” stated ElevenLabs CEO Mati Staniszewski. The upcoming AI music platform will operate independently from ElevenLabs’ Music API and ElevenMusic generator.
