Hulu Announces the Return of Prison Break with a Reboot
One of the most beloved TV series is making a comeback under new management. A first look at *Prison Break: Black Creek*, a spin-off set in the same universe as the original, has been revealed. Production is underway, and it’s set to premiere soon on streaming platforms.
While the teaser is brief, it offers a glimpse into the story: “A soldier-turned-corrections officer takes a job at one of the deadliest prisons in America to prove just how far she’ll go for someone she loves.” The action unfolds at the fictional Black Creek Penitentiary.
Elgin James, known for his work on *Mayans M.C.* and *The Outlaws*, is at the helm as showrunner. He will also direct, with Vanessa Joy Smith handling the cinematography. Dawn Olmstead, who executive produced the original series, is back in that role, while production is managed by Disney-owned 20th Television.
The cast of *Black Creek* features Drake Rodger as Tommy, Clayton Cardenas as Michael “Ghost,” JR Bourne as Junior, Georgie Flores as Andrea, and Myles Bullock as Darius “Red.” Noah Emmerich will portray Callum Faulls, a power broker from West Virginia.
*Prison Break* originally aired from 2005 to 2009 and returned for a new season in 2017. The series follows brothers Lincoln Burrows and Michael Scofield, with Michael devising an elaborate plan to help Lincoln escape after he’s wrongfully sentenced to death. The show gained a massive following, spanning 90 episodes, although some fans felt it strayed from its core premise in later seasons. Here’s hoping *Black Creek* captures the essence that made the original so compelling.
