Zelda: Ocarina of Time Surpasses Expectations with Impressive Pre-Order Numbers
Fans of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time who rushed to secure the special foil-covered edition of the upcoming remake might want to hold their horses. Shortly after the announcement of the standard Nintendo Switch 2 promotion, a new pre-order option has emerged that could be even more enticing for Zelda enthusiasts.
This new offering also features a foil cover, but it comes with a unique slipcover designed to mimic the original Nintendo 64 box art of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It has a nostalgic yet stylish vibe, as you can see in the accompanying image.
However, there’s a catch: this Ocarina of Time remake pre-order is exclusive to certain regions and retailers. Only Canadian gamers who place their orders early at EB Games will have access to the N64-style variant. But don’t be too envious; Canadian prices are higher. While the physical version retails for $69.99 in the U.S., Canadians will be paying the equivalent of $79.25.
In the U.K., fans who pre-order through Nintendo can snag a 3D replica of the Spiritual Stones that Link gathers on his journey. There’s also a regional pre-order option that includes a small keychain replica of Link’s blue ocarina. While these extras are nice, they don’t quite match the appeal of the slipcover, and some of these items may already be sold out. Still, for those who managed to secure their pre-orders, at least they’re getting something beyond just a shiny cover.
Meanwhile, the hunt for a Zelda Switch 2 console pre-order continues. Retailers like Amazon and Target have restocked multiple times since pre-orders opened, with Amazon offering new stock 22 times since midnight on September 11. Unfortunately, the console is often listed as sold out whenever you check. The best strategy right now is to follow Nintendo’s tips for securing a Switch 2 pre-order—or, if you’re feeling adventurous, you could explore options on eBay.
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is set to launch on November 5, while the Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition hardware will be available starting October 29.
