No Man’s Sky Finally Introduces Space Building, Leaving Players Amazed

Feeling a bit nostalgic? Last month marked the tenth anniversary of No Man’s Sky, the space exploration survival game from Hello Games. Over the past decade, it has evolved significantly, thanks to a series of impressive free updates that have fulfilled many of the promises made back in 2016.

The latest update, called Cosmos, launched on September 9 and is arguably the most ambitious expansion yet. The patch notes are extensive, but one standout section is simply titled “The Sun.” While it’s unclear if players specifically asked for this feature, you can now fly directly into the sun and meet a fiery end.

The most exciting new feature is twofold: players can now claim space stations and build in open space. This means that, unlike before when construction was limited to planets, you can now set up shop anywhere—be it an asteroid, a commandeered space station, or the vastness of space itself. If you have the funds, the cosmos is your playground.

However, claiming a space station doesn’t come cheap. It will cost you a hefty billion units, and you’ll need to boost your reputation level to 40 before you can even start building your space base.

While it’s a significant investment, the benefits are substantial. You can position your base at a strategic warp point, turning it into a hub for your expeditions. Alternatively, you could place it in a high-traffic area, showcasing your wealth to passing travelers.

Just be sure to gather all the necessary resources to claim a station before you get too attached, as players on the r/NoMansSkyTheGame subreddit have reported that others are actively scouting popular locations and snatching them up quickly.
