A New Hero Joins Heroes of the Storm This Month!
In a surprising twist, Blizzard has announced a new hero for its MOBA, Heroes of the Storm, after the game has been largely dormant for about four years (or even eight, depending on how you look at it). Meet Xal’atath!
Originating from World of Warcraft, Xal’atath is currently the main antagonist in the ongoing storyline. While she may look like an elf, she’s actually the “Harbinger of the Void,” with plans to consume the planet’s soul. Just your typical villainous agenda!
This is monumental news for Heroes of the Storm fans, especially since the game has been in a sort of hibernation since 2022. Although the servers have stayed online, players have only seen minor balance adjustments and bug fixes, with no significant updates. Leading up to this year’s BlizzCon, there were whispers of potential changes, but many had lost hope for any major additions to the game.
Blizzard is keeping expectations in check. During the announcement, Blizzard president Johanna Faries expressed gratitude to the community for their support and hinted that another new hero might be on the horizon soon.
Players can expect to try out Xal’atath on the Public Test Realms starting Monday, with a full launch scheduled for September 28.
