New Campaign Featuring Arthas and Sylvanas Launches Today in Warcraft 3: Reforged
Blizzard’s remaster of the classic RTS, Warcraft 3: Reforged, which faced significant criticism upon release, is receiving an unexpected major update today. This update introduces a brand new campaign featuring several iconic Warcraft characters, along with a graphics overhaul and a host of new features.
The new campaign, titled Forsaken Kingdom, delves into one of the most pivotal moments in Warcraft lore: Arthas’ assault on Lordaeron and its aftermath. Players will encounter key figures like Arthas and Sylvanas, as well as familiar factions and locations such as the Undercity, the Scarlet Crusade, and Naxxramus. This campaign promises over 30 hours of gameplay, introduces a new neutral hero—the Forsaken Paladin—and includes enhancements to the world editor and various feature tweaks, all while boasting improved graphics.
Following the opening ceremonies, all players will gain access to a significant free update that enhances Reforged’s graphics and features. While this update is complimentary, the new campaign will require a purchase, available either as a standalone option or as part of a bundle.
Warcraft 3: Reforged was released in 2020 as a complete remake of the original Warcraft 3, but it struggled at launch due to numerous bugs, missing features from the original, and various technical issues that disappointed long-time fans. Although Blizzard has made efforts to address some of these problems, it seemed they were ready to move on from the title, making this announcement a surprising turn of events.
