Diablo 4 is set to reintroduce a beloved class in the upcoming year.

The announcement of Diablo 5 at BlizzCon 2026 certainly took everyone by surprise, but it doesn’t mean that support for Diablo 4 is winding down anytime soon. In fact, Blizzard is working on bringing the action RPG to a new platform, and a beloved class from Diablo 2 is set to join the roster in Diablo 4.

Players can look forward to a significant new season that will celebrate the franchise’s rich history.

Scheduled for the first half of 2027, a new class pack will introduce the Amazon class, which has been absent since Diablo 2. Known for their speed and precision, Amazons will wield bows and introduce the Javelin weapon type to Diablo 4 for the first time.

Currently, Diablo 4 features eight playable classes. The game launched in 2023 with five classes (Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue, and Sorcerer), and Blizzard has since added three more (Spiritborn, Paladin, and Warlock) through its expansions.

During the Opening Ceremony of BlizzCon 2026, Blizzard revealed the Season of Hell’s Legacy for Diablo 4. This season is designed as a tribute to the franchise, coinciding with Diablo’s 30th anniversary in 2026. Players can expect to encounter enemies, locations, and items from previous Diablo titles, including the original game, starting on September 15.

Additionally, there’s an exciting crossover with The Witcher franchise on the horizon.

To get players excited for the Season of Hell’s Legacy and the upcoming Amazon class, Diablo 4: The Age of Hatred Collection is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2. This port was hinted at months ago by Indonesia’s game ratings board, and a report in August suggested a reveal was on the way. It made its official debut at BlizzCon.

The Switch 2 version will bundle Diablo 4 with its two expansions — Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred — for Nintendo’s hybrid console. The Age of Hatred Collection is available for play at BlizzCon this year and will be released for everyone else on September 15, coinciding with the new season.

Diablo 4 and its expansions are also playable on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.

A reveal at Gamescom could be just around the corner.
