Sega announces Persona 6 will be available physically for Switch 2.

The September Nintendo Direct brought a wave of exciting announcements and fresh trailers for upcoming games. One standout reveal was the confirmation of Persona 6 making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2. Sega followed up by posting details on its official site, which included confirmation of a physical release for the Switch 2.

Initially, Sega’s Persona 6 announcement indicated that the physical edition would be exclusive to the PlayStation 5, but that information has since been updated. The current details no longer mention exclusivity, and the release page for the Switch 2 now states that physical copies will be available for both the PlayStation 5 and Switch 2.

While this doesn’t clarify the situation for a potential physical release on Xbox, it’s a relief for Switch 2 owners to know they won’t be left out, and that PlayStation 5 won’t be the sole console getting a physical version. This is particularly interesting given Sony’s strong push towards a digital future, while Nintendo continues to thrive on physical game sales, and Xbox is offering players options to transition from disc to digital.

As of now, it’s still unclear if a physical edition of Persona 6 will be available on Xbox. This information is primarily found on Sega’s Japanese site, and given Xbox’s lower popularity in Japan, it might make sense to forgo a physical edition for the Series X. However, there’s still hope that gamers in other regions could eventually get their hands on a physical copy of Persona 6.

Because we all deserve a tasty little treat.
