Grab this hidden gem of a puzzle fighter on Steam for free while you can!

Puzzle games have a knack for transforming a quick gaming session into an entire afternoon of fun. Whether you’re matching vibrant pieces, clearing lines, or scratching your head over how you ended up with a chaotic board, there’s always that urge to dive into just one more round.

If you’re on the hunt for something fresh to spice up your gaming lineup, there’s a hidden gem on Steam with a ‘Very Positive’ user rating that you can snag for the unbeatable price of free. And while it may look colorful, this isn’t your typical falling-block puzzle game.

Enter Crystal Crisis, which you can claim for free and keep in your Steam library as long as you grab it before September 21 at 11:59 p.m. The game usually retails for $19.99.

Although it has been available on Steam since 2019, this current giveaway has reignited interest, with new players responding enthusiastically to its unique puzzle battle mechanics and diverse cast of characters.

Crystal Crisis is a competitive color-matching puzzle game that blends falling-block gameplay with elements from fighting games. Instead of just clearing your own board, you’re up against an opponent, and your crystal-matching prowess dictates the attacks and defenses you can unleash.

One of the game’s standout features is its crossover character roster. With 20 playable characters, including Quote and Curly Brace from Cave Story, Isaac from The Binding of Isaac, and Astro Boy and Black Jack from Tezuka Productions, each character comes with their own stage, music, voice lines, and unique abilities.

Matches go beyond simple crystal clearing. You can build combos and crashes to fill a Burst gauge, which unlocks 40 special attacks and defensive maneuvers. Plus, a wrap-around mechanic allows falling crystal pairs to shift from one side of the board to the other.

For those who prefer solo play, Crystal Crisis offers Arcade, Survival, Tag Team, Training, and branching Story modes, along with local and online multiplayer options. It’s also Steam Deck Verified and features customizable crystal colors, including a colorblind mode.

Normally priced at $19.99, you can grab it for free if you claim it before September 21 at 11:59 p.m.
