Season 3 of Percy Jackson is set to shake up the book’s original formula.
Disney is gearing up to launch the third season of its adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians on November 20. While that date is fast approaching, details about what to expect from The Titan’s Curse have been kept under wraps, particularly regarding significant changes to one of the series’ key characters.
In this upcoming season, viewers will meet siblings Nico and Bianca di Angelo, who play crucial roles in the central prophecy tied to Percy, though I won’t spoil their family connections. Bianca will join Percy on a quest to find Annabeth and the missing goddess Artemis, while Nico remains at Camp Half-Blood. Since the story is primarily told from Percy’s perspective, Nico’s presence in The Titan’s Curse is limited, but that’s set to change in the show.
Walker Scobell, who portrays Percy, shared in a recent interview that Nico will have “a bigger part of the entire season.” He also mentioned that the narrative will expand beyond Percy’s viewpoint this time. “There are a couple of times where we get to see what’s going on at camp, and how Nico’s doing.” Levi Chrisopulos, cast as Nico, hinted that while the show will retain key aspects of Nico’s personality from the books, there will be some modifications. Both Scobell and Chrisopulos noted that the characters share a mutual respect, driven by their desire to protect those they care about, which will lay the groundwork for significant plot developments in future installments.
Scobell will reprise his role as Percy, joined by returning cast members Aryan Simhadri as Grover and Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth. Olive Abercrombie will portray Bianca. The third season will also introduce several gods, including Dafne Keen as Artemis, Kate McKinnon as Aphrodite, Ming-Na Wen as Hera, Jennifer Beals as Demeter, and Hubert Smielecki as Apollo. Holt McCallany will take on the role of Atlas, the season’s main antagonist.
With this third season, Disney’s adaptation is venturing into new territory. While the first two books in Rick Riordan’s series were previously adapted by another studio, this marks the first time the third book will be brought to life. It also signals that the series is nearing its conclusion, as there are only five books in total. As of now, Disney has not officially confirmed a fourth season.
