Apex Legends Teams Up with This Fall’s Hottest Action Movie
Electronic Arts has announced an exciting crossover event for the battle royale shooter Apex Legends, bringing the iconic characters from Street Fighter 6 into a new competitive arena. This event kicks off next week, just a month ahead of the Street Fighter film’s release.
According to an official blog post on the Apex Legends site, the event is named Apex Legends vs Street Fighter 6, reminiscent of classic matchups like Marvel vs. Capcom. It will run from September 22 to October 13. The highlight of this crossover is the Wildcard game mode, which transforms the battle royale experience into a melee-focused brawl. Instead of traditional gunplay, players will choose from four Street Fighter characters to engage in hand-to-hand combat. By collecting coins, players can fill a Fighter Gauge that allows them to enter Fighter Form, unlocking additional special abilities.
The four characters available in Wildcard are:
The action will unfold on a reimagined version of the Olympus map, featuring numerous references to Capcom’s franchise. The final showdown, aptly named Showdown, will provide the last players standing with an infinite Fight Gauge, ensuring an explosive conclusion to the match.
In addition to the gameplay changes, the event introduces eight new Iconic skins, a rarity tier specifically for crossovers, giving Apex Legends characters a Street Fighter-inspired look. The skins include:
Each skin is priced at 2,150 Apex Coins. Beyond character skins, players can also look forward to eight weapon skins, two skydive emotes, holosprays, stickers, badges, trackers, and frames. Throughout matches, players will earn Zenny, which can be used to unlock various items, including an Epic skin for Lifeline that transforms her into Street Fighter’s Li-Fen.
