Kojima Updates on Physint’s Progress Featuring Bill Skarsgård After Transition to Xbox

Bill Skarsgård, renowned for his roles as Pennywise in the It series and Count Orlok in Nosferatu, has been confirmed as the lead in Hideo Kojima’s upcoming action-espionage game, Physint.

This announcement came during the closing moments of Xbox’s Tokyo Game Show 2026 showcase, which also featured a sneak peek behind the scenes of Kojima Productions’ horror project, OD – KNOCK. The news marks the first significant update on the eagerly awaited spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid since Kojima’s split with PlayStation, which led to Physint being picked up by Xbox. Kojima mentioned that the project is making “steady progress.”

While details about Physint were sparse in the announcement, Kojima expressed his enthusiasm for Skarsgård’s involvement in a press release on Kojima Productions’ website.

“I’m thrilled to announce that Bill Skarsgård will take the lead role in Physint,” Kojima stated. “We have both admired each other’s work for a long time, and we’re excited to embark on this new journey together. The costume fittings, scans, and camera tests we conducted with Bill and Charlee earlier this year have given me great confidence in the project’s direction.”

Skarsgård will be joined by Don Lee, Minami Hamabe, and Charlee Fraser, but it seems Kojima is still in the process of finalizing the cast. Before Skarsgård’s reveal, he mentioned that the team is actively “making progress on casting, talent scans, and collaborations with outside creators.”

Additionally, in a statement on the Xbox Wire blog, Xbox noted that its partnership with Kojima Productions “also extends beyond games,” indicating that both companies are “collaborating across film and television to bring new stories to wider audiences.”

While this may not seem particularly groundbreaking, it’s an intriguing detail to include, especially since Kojima had previously shown interest in working with Sony’s Columbia Pictures for the multimedia aspects of Physint.
