Wolverine Player Escapes Levels to Discover Expansive, Unfinished World
Marvel’s Wolverine takes a different approach compared to the expansive superhero adventures fans might expect from Insomniac Games, known for their sprawling titles like Spider-Man 2. Personally, I appreciated Wolverine’s more linear design; after years of increasingly bloated open-world experiences, a shorter game with a compact map felt refreshing. However, for those still craving a vast playground for acrobatic feats and side quests, Wolverine’s more guided structure may feel limiting. Yet, if you’re curious about what a larger game world could have looked like, a player has discovered a glitch that allows exploration beyond Wolverine’s designated levels.
A YouTuber named Turned shared a brief video demonstrating a spot during the “One That Got Away” mission where players can escape the level’s boundaries. By timing jumps perfectly, Logan can scale a building, granting access to a larger, unfinished section of the map. This area includes woods and other parts of the small town Logan traverses, revealing locations that Insomniac clearly didn’t intend for players to access.
Some regions are not fully rendered, and players can even fall through the ground, indicating that this space was never meant for exploration. Additionally, there are sections that players aren’t supposed to encounter until later in the level, but these areas don’t trigger the combat encounters or missions that would normally occur if approached as intended.
Turned also posted a video showcasing a similar glitch in the game’s Tokyo segment. This reveals some of the “video game magic” used to create a more immersive environment, such as cars that appear to drive through the streets but end up colliding with walls and disappearing in areas players shouldn’t reach.
It’s fascinating to catch a glimpse of the environmental details Insomniac crafted that might otherwise go unnoticed. If you’re looking for a bit more exploration than Wolverine typically allows, there are ways to break free and discover hidden aspects of the game.
