New Avengers: Endgame Footage Surfaces, Fueling Fan Theories

Earlier this year, the Russo brothers revealed that Avengers: Endgame would be making a return to theaters, featuring a small amount of new footage. This extra content is intended to connect the dots between Endgame and the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, although specific details were kept under wraps. Recently, some of this new footage has leaked online, captured in low-quality clips from a live screening.

The re-release of Endgame is set for September 25, but some attendees at preview screenings have discreetly recorded parts of the film, and these clips are now appearing on various platforms. While the snippets are brief, they certainly spark some intriguing discussions. If you want to avoid spoilers before your re-watch, now’s the time to look away.

Currently, one of the clips making the rounds features the TVA.

Three clips are circulating, starting with a moment from Endgame where Steve Rogers travels back in time to meet Peggy Carter. This scene now extends beyond their kiss, as they hear a noise. Cap hides, and Peggy opens the door to find Loki entering. The crowd cheers as Cap steps out, and they share a poignant look before the scene cuts to credits.

In another clip, which surfaced from an earlier release in Korea, Loki’s TVA associates are seen investigating a crossover between Earth-10005 (the old X-Men universe set to appear in Doomsday) and a new location, Earth-1127. This ties into the footage of Xavier witnessing fire raining down from the sky. Interestingly, there’s no mention of Earth-828 from Fantastic Four: First Steps, which is surprising since that’s where Doom seems to be. Miss Minutes appears, instructing everyone to stay put, while Mobius and Ouroboros react to the situation, indicating that the two Earths are on a collision course. An animation shows missiles being launched between them, followed by a flood of reports about thousands of incursions as the multiverse begins to unravel.

Edit: The footage is currently available online.

Next up is the Hulk clip. If it’s gone by the time you check, just search on social media or forums, and you’ll likely find another upload.

Reports have surfaced that different screenings will feature varying lengths, suggesting that not all showings will include the same amount of new footage, which is a bit absurd. This raises questions about whether all the clips will be available at every screening. However, even though the Captain America scene may seem minor, it hints at some fascinating theories.

We know Captain America appears in Doomsday, as seen in the trailer. It seems to be the real Steve Rogers, especially since he wields Mjölnir, a weapon only he and Thor have been deemed worthy to lift. However, Loki’s appearance in the past feeds into a theory that’s been circulating since the Doomsday trailer dropped: What if it’s not Steve Rogers, but Loki in disguise?

Historically, Loki was never considered worthy of Mjölnir, despite being Thor’s brother and a god in his own right. But after his redemption arc in the two seasons of the Loki series, where he ultimately sacrificed everything to maintain the timelines, he’s certainly earned some worthiness (even if it was disappointing to see the trickster god turn into a goody-two-shoes). This footage seems to directly support that theory.

The wait for answers won’t be long, with Doomsday hitting theaters on December 18. And hey, you could always catch Endgame again for just a couple of minutes of new content.
