McDonald’s Trials Advertising on Drive-Thru Menus
McDonald’s is testing out ads on its drive-thru menus at select company-owned locations, as reported. In this pilot program, customers will see advertisements from various brands on digital menu boards after placing their orders, providing entertainment while they wait for their food.
A representative from McDonald’s mentioned that this initiative aims to explore ways to present post-purchase content that could be helpful, relevant, or interesting to customers.
This move to incorporate ads on menu boards could create a new revenue stream for McDonald’s, especially as the company navigates slowing sales in the US. Additionally, McDonald’s is advancing its AI-driven ArchIQ assistant, which has recently demonstrated its ability to take orders in both English and Spanish, recognize repeat customers, and recall their previous orders.
