Teaser for Gremlins 3 Released, But There’s a Catch

Gizmo is making a comeback on the big screen in the upcoming third installment of the Gremlins series, but details about the project remain scarce. Although the release is still a while away, a teaser has been unveiled, bringing both excitement and a touch of disappointment due to a delayed release date.

Gremlins 3 marks the franchise’s first new entry in over 35 years. The last film, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, hit theaters in 1990, following the original Gremlins. While the sequel didn’t quite match the success of its predecessor, the franchise has continued to thrive, amassing a dedicated fanbase and generating millions over the years. Gremlins is a unique blend of Christmas cheer, horror, and comedy, featuring quirky creatures that thrive on chaos and an endearing main character that fans can’t help but love.

Though animated series have explored its lore, fans have longed for the return of the beloved animatronic Gremlins in a new film. That wish was granted when the project was announced last year, with an initial release date set for November 19, 2027. Nearly a year later, the first teaser has been released, revealing a significant delay; the new premiere date is now October 6, 2028.

The teaser presents a backpack in a shadowy, misty setting. As the camera zooms in, the familiar sounds of a Mogwai fill the air. The backpack opens slightly, and Gizmo peeks out, looking just as adorable as ever with his sleepy smile and big eyes. However, the excitement is tempered by the news of the new release date, which is a bit of a letdown.

Now set for October 6, 2028, Gremlins 3 will arrive nearly 11 months later than originally planned. On the upside, fans can look forward to a perfect spooky season movie experience in theaters two years from now.

Critters is everything you want in a cheesy horror movie.
